About the Journal

The Journal of Agricultural Entomology and Crop Protection (JAECP) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes high-quality research advancing the understanding of insect science in relation to agriculture, food security, and sustainable crop production systems.
Founded with the mission to bridge the gap between entomological research and practical agricultural applications, JAECP provides a platform for scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and students to share innovations that promote environmentally responsible pest management and resilient farming systems.

The journal covers the biology, ecology, behavior, and management of insects and arthropods that affect agricultural productivity, including beneficial insects such as pollinators and natural enemies. JAECP also welcomes integrative studies that explore the interactions among climate, environment, and pest dynamics, reflecting the growing need for sustainable solutions to global food challenges.

Mission and Vision

JAECP aims to:

  • Foster the dissemination of cutting-edge entomological research that directly supports sustainable agriculture.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaborations between entomologists, agronomists, plant pathologists, ecologists, and environmental scientists.
  • Promote eco-friendly and innovative pest management strategies aligned with global sustainability goals, including UN SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
  • Provide equitable global access to scientific knowledge through gold open access publishing, ensuring free and immediate availability of all published content.

Our vision is to be a premier international forum for the exchange of scientific knowledge in agricultural entomology and crop protection, contributing to the advancement of sustainable farming systems worldwide.

Scope and Coverage

The scope of JAECP encompasses a wide range of topics within the field of applied entomology, agroecology, and pest science, including but not limited to:

  • Insect–plant interactions, host selection, and chemical ecology
  • Population dynamics, pest surveillance, and forecasting models
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and biological control strategies
  • Pesticide resistance mechanisms and toxicology studies
  • Pollination ecology and the conservation of beneficial insects
  • Post-harvest protection, stored-product entomology, and grain pests
  • Insect biodiversity in agricultural landscapes
  • Sustainable agriculture, organic farming, and agroecological practices
  • Remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and data-driven pest monitoring
  • Impacts of climate change on pest incidence and crop resilience

By publishing both fundamental and applied research, JAECP seeks to connect laboratory discoveries with real-world agricultural challenges, promoting translational outcomes that directly benefit farmers and agribusiness stakeholders.

Publication Frequency and Format

The journal publishes four issues annually (Quarterly)—in March, June, September, and December—and operates a continuous publication model for accepted papers to ensure rapid dissemination of new findings.

Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, ensuring permanent online visibility, citation tracking, and global discoverability.

Editorial and Peer Review Policy

JAECrop maintains a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to guarantee objectivity and quality. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
The editorial decisions are based on scientific merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

The editorial board comprises an international team of experts in agricultural entomology, pest management, and environmental sciences, committed to maintaining the journal’s ethical integrity and scholarly standards in alignment with COPE Core Practices and DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice.

The journal adheres to strict ethical publishing guidelines, including:

  • Prevention of plagiarism, data fabrication, and image manipulation
  • Full disclosure of funding and conflicts of interest
  • Ethical approval for research involving live organisms or field studies
  • Transparent correction, retraction, and withdrawal policies

JAECP is committed to publication integrity and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) where applicable.

Indexing and Archiving

JAECP ensures long-term preservation and discoverability through multiple digital archives and indexing partnerships.
The journal content is archived with PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and LOCKSS/CLOCKSS. Metadata are deposited with Crossref, Google Scholar, BASE, and Dimensions.

JAECP is intended for a global readership of:

  • Entomologists, agricultural scientists, and crop protection specialists
  • Academics and researchers in pest management and ecology
  • Policy-makers and extension agencies focused on sustainable agriculture
  • Students, postgraduates, and early-career scientists
  • Agribusiness professionals, biocontrol developers, and environmental consultants

Through its inclusive editorial policy and open-access model, the journal seeks to amplify voices from both developed and developing countries, promoting equitable participation in agricultural research dissemination.
